Mass Distraction Media was founded by Academy Award winning producers David Dinerstein and Robert Fyvolent. The studio collaborates with storytellers to produce premium non-fiction film and TV with riveting narrative arcs, rich characters, and provocative themes.

Mass Distraction Media’s first production “Summer of Soul” won the Oscar for Best Documentary. The film was also bestowed with the BAFTA, Grammy, Independent Spirit Award, Producers Guild Award, Peabody, AFI, Critics Choice Documentary Award, the Sundance Grand Jury Prize and Sundance Audience Award.

Dinerstein and Fyvolent have previously produced a slate of award-winning non-fiction films including the Academy Award nominated, Netflix documentary “Winter On Fire: Ukraine’s Fight For Freedom”, which was also nominated for an Emmy Award; the HBO documentary “Cries From Syria” which received an Emmy Award nomination.

Dinerstein and Fyvolent are accomplished media executives, who previously served in senior roles at Paramount Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Sony and Disney. They have been involved in the production, marketing or distribution on over 250 movies including “Pulp Fiction”, “American Hustle”, “The Passion of the Christ”, “Mad Hot Ballroom”, and “Whale Rider”.
